Culinary Excellence Awards
Who Can Nominate
Community colleges in Canada offering a one-year (minimum ten months) culinary certificate program or a two-year culinary diploma program are invited to submit one nominee per college (Culinary one-year $1,000/Culinary two-year $1,750).
The nomination must be submitted by the program or department head.
Nomination Criteria
The nomination must be based on the nominee's extracurricular activities, academic record and work experience, all of which should indicate that the nominee is exceptionally suited for a career in the hospitality industry.The nominees for the Culinary Excellence Awards must:
- either currently be enrolled in a one-year program or in the first-year of a diploma program
- be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- not have received any other Foundation scholarship or award
How to Nominate
The nomination form must be completed on-line by the school program or department head and the nominee's most recent transcripts be sent to the Foundation's mailing address provided on the form. PLEASE NOTE: transcripts must arrive by the submission deadline date for the nomination to be accepted.
To nominate on-line, the school administrator must first register. Please CONTACT the Foundation office so we can assist you in registering.
Payment of Award Money
A one-time payment is made to the school in November of the year the nomination is received for credit to the student's tuition fees or to be paid to the student by the school if there are no outstanding fees. The Foundation will seek confirmation of full-time re-enrollment prior to payment unless the student is in a one-year program. If a student enrolled in a one-year program completes the program prior to November, the school will forward payment to the student.Deadline
Nominations must be received by the Foundation no later than Wednesday, April 30, 2008. Nominations received after that date will not be eligible to receive the award. Names of award recipients will be posted on the Foundation web site www.chfscholarships.com by the end of June 2008.
Important, please note:
Colleges/universities that do not submit nominations this year will be taken off the list of schools eligible to receive Foundation Excellence Awards for the following year. The Foundation will be pleased to re-instate a school but only upon a written request and after a period of one year.
